Womanism, Feminism, and Privilege
Okay so I have been reading these blogs lately (Womanist Musings, TransGriot) and I think they're great. They're addressing issues that otherwise might not be addressed and I highly encourage people to check them out. However I take issue with them. Both sites are really down on Feminism. I admit feminism has its problems but their reasons for not liking feminism seems hypocritical and slightly uninformed. First radical feminism is not all feminism. I have seen other feminist blogs take up transgendered issues (Feministing, Feminste) and issues of racism, homophobia and the like. Oh and then both Renee(Womanist Musings) and Monica(TransGriot) said white women could not be womanists because it was a private space for women of color to express their issues. Really? You bitch about feminism's problems with racism and white privilege but actively exclude others based on race? What about your Western privilege? You get undeserved privileges just by living in a Western country. These countries and their citizens get an unfair piece of the world's pie and benefit on the backs of other "people of color". So that is why I will never id as a womanist, never mind the fact I don't like the word "woman", because you're just as bad as the people who condemn.

My First Rant.
It's 5:50 am Eastern time. I'm tired and pissed. I've been reading all damn day; articles, essays and blogs. That is why I'm typing this. Everyone else has a published opinion why not me. Some of the people with blogs have typed out some the dumbest shit I have ever read. Now don't get me wrong I try my best to be understanding and respectful but that stops around 1 to 2 am. This blog will be about me responding to things, in general really.
My first response of many more to come is the importance of knowing definitions of common terminology. I will come back to this later after I've rested and elaborate and back up with evidence (another thing other blogs lack). You cannot judge an argument or position if you don't know what the terms mean. For instance while I was researching for an essay I can across a pro-life blog. I'm pro-choice and it annoys me when pro-life people imply or flat out wrongly state that pro-choice means pro-abortion, which it doesn't. It means the freedom to CHOOSE between two or more options, one of which is abortion. Many pro-choice people I know would never get an abortion themselves but don't wish to impose their views on others. There are more including the difference between socialism and communism but that'll come later.
Good Night.
